WINTRE-MIX Data Submission Instructions - POST FIELD Phase

To submit your dataset(s) and documentation to the NCAR/EOL WINTRE-MIX Field Data Archive (FDA), see the SFTP instructions below. If you would prefer to submit via another method (e.g. Globus, Dropbox, Google Drive, email, etc) please contact eol-archive@ucar.edu.  If you have a large number of files to SFTP, please tar and/or compress (e.g., zip, gzip) your files before transferring the files.

It is critical that submitted datasets are accompanied by a detailed documentation file. This helps to ensure the long-term use of the dataset. Each dataset MUST be accompanied by a Readme file that meets the Dataset Documentation Requirements.

You can SFTP transfer your data to the Archive by Linux command line or your favorite SFTP client (e.g. FileZilla) via:

  • Server: data-ingest.eol.ucar.edu
  • User:  wintre-mix
  • Password: send an email to eol-archive@ucar.edu for the password
  • Directory: wintre-mix

As an example, the commands you would use on the linux command line are:

sftp wintre-mix@data-ingest.eol.ucar.edu
enter the password at the prompt and then
cd wintre-mix
put your files in this directory

Once you have completed transferring your data and accompanying documentation files please send an email to eol-archive@ucar.edu with the following information:

  1. Dataset Title
  2. A summary of the files transferred so we can verify full transfer.
  3. Are the data considered to be in a preliminary (not publication ready) or final (publication ready, can still be updated later if needed) state?

All datasets in "Final" form will be given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) unless otherwise requested. Datasets in "Preliminary" form are not given a DOI unless specifically requested.

Once the dataset has been included in the WINTRE-MIX FDA it will be available on the NCAR/EOL WINTRE-MIX Field Data Archive (FDA) web page.

Thank you for providing data to the WINTRE-MIX Field Data Archive at NCAR/EOL. Feel free to contact us with any questions or issues.
