PAST WORKSHOPS

2024 AVAPS Group Meeting

April 16-17, 2024
Location: Boulder, Colorado
Abstract: The National Center for Atmospheric Research - Earth Observing Laboratory will be hosting our 2024 AVAPS Users Group Meeting on 16-17 April, 2024. This year, we are celebrating 50 years of the NCAR dropsonde program, which started with GATE in 1974. In addition to topics revolving around in situ observations using dropsondes and their use in forecasting and science, we would like to highlight the outstanding history of this program. We have prepared presentations and discussions on science, operations, technology, and history along with open discussions, which may include future needs and capabilities such as new types of measurements and new platforms.

2023 FARE Users' Workshop

September 18-22, 2023
Location: Boulder, Colorado
Abstract: The NCAR Earth Observing Laboratory and the University of Wyoming jointly hosted the NSF-sponsored Facilities for Atmospheric Research and Education (FARE) workshop from September 18-22, 2023 in Boulder, Colorado. The workshop served as a platform for both experienced and new users of NSF FARE assets to convene and explore observational needs to advance atmospheric science. With the main objectives of enhancing community awareness of the expanded NSF FARE Program and facilitating discussions on science drivers, emerging technologies, and community needs in atmospheric research, the workshop aimed to foster a vibrant exchange of ideas and insights.

The final workshop report was released in March 2024.

For any inquiries regarding the workshop, please contact the organizers at EOLDO@ucar.edu
