Variability of the American MOnsoon Systems

PROJECT DATES
02/01/2001 - 12/01/2008
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Monsoon systems provide a framework for studies on the predictability of precipitation during the warm season. The Variability of the American Monsoon Systems (VAMOS) project emphasize the interplay between the atmosphere, oceans and continental surfaces to improve understanding of: the American monsoon systems in the context of the global climate system, the capacity for seasonal to interannual climate predictions, and, the impacts of Anthropogenic climate change. VAMOS is organized as three integrated components that focus on different geographical regions but complement each other in scope:. NAME, MESA, and VOCALS.
