The START-08 project has officially ended. Thank you for visiting. After undergoing quality control the project data will become available on the EOL mass store.

START08 schedule of activities for the rest of the project. All plans are subject to change.

Saturday 6/28: RAF will start dismantling the racks in the cabin, beginning with the right side (R) of the cabin to allow the removal of QCLS. There will be no power or access for research purposes. People who need to remove plumbing from R racks, please do that on Friday after landing or on Saturday, or contact Pavel about any special handling for your equipment.

Friday 6/27: RF18, Stratospheric fold survey over N. Montana and sampling of convective outflow in the Great Lakes region. Hands-on at 0800, take-off at 1000, estimated duration 6.5 hours.

Thursday 6/26: RF17, intercomparison with the DC8, flight maneuvers and short EB survey. There will be a low approach on this flight. Hands-on at 0815, take-off at 1045, approximate duration 5.5 hours.

Wednesday 6/25: Maintenance day, power and access from 0730 to 1700. Please contact Pavel by 1500 if you need extended access.

Tuesday 6/24: RF16, NW pre-HIPPO survey towards Yellowknife. Hands-on at 0700, take-off at 0930, estimated recovery at Jeffco at 1600 MDT. Approximate duration 7.5 hours. Pre-flight tour of the GV for UND staff and students: 0800 local time. There will be no planning meeting on Tuesday.

Monday 6/23: RF15, northbound pre-HIPPO survey to Hudson Bay lowlandas with overnight in Grand Forks. Hands-on at 0600, take-off at 0830, estimated duration 6.5 hours, landing estimated at 1600 local time. There will be no low approaches on this flight but a descent over a tower.. Flight crew: overnight in GF is at the Canad Inn. Share a ride to the hotel with the pilots, mechanic or Bruce Daube who will have a car. If necessary, call Canad Inn and they will dispatch a free shuttle but give them some time to get to the airport (number is 701-772-8404). You have a reservation at the hotel in your name at a contract rate. There will be a 2 pm planning meeting on Monday.

Sunday 6/22: Maintenance day, power and access from 0800 to 1600. Please follow the same access rules as in the past: start your work on the GV as early as possible and the earlier you finish, the earlier everyone will get to go home. People should not come in at 2 pm and expect extended access; we will shut down as soon as the people who start working in the morning are finished. If you are planning to come in later please call in advance and let us know.

Saturday 6/21: Hard down day, no power or access to the GV. RAF staff working to repair the pressure switch.

Friday, 6/20: RFXX, NW survey flight towards Vancoover Island, BC. There will be low approaches on this flight. Hands on is at 0630, take-off at 0900, estimated duration 7.5 - 8 hours. CANCELED DUE TO AIRCRAFT PROBLEM.

Thursday, 6/19: Maintenance day, power and access from 0730 to 1730.

Wednesday 6/18: RF14, Hands-on will be at 0830, take-off at 1100. The flight will be a northbound survey, targeting convective outflow in the afternoon on the return leg.

Tuesday 6/17: Maintenance day, power and access from 0730 to 1730.

Monday 6/16: RF13, southbound survey for pre-HIPPO. Roll-out at 0800, takeoff at 1030, duration ~7 hours. There will be low passes during this flight.

Sunday 6/15: Maintenance day, power and access from 0800 to 1600. Please follow the same access rules as in the past: start your work on the GV as early as possible and the earlier you finish, the earlier everyone will get to go home for the Father's Day. People should not come in at 2 pm and expect extended access; we will shut down as soon as the people who start working in the morning are finished. If you are planning to come in later please call in advance and let us know. POCs for Sunday are Jason Morris (x1069) and Greg Bruning (x1076).
