Logistics
Outline of the logistical arrangements for HIPPO III Global.

General plan:

The NCAR/NSF GV (HIAPER) will take off from RMMA carrying the essential crew, instrumentation, minimal spares and tools and start its global survey by flying to Anchorage, AK. In Anchorage, the GV will be based at a FAA FIFO (Flight Inspection Field Office), a secure federal facility. Access to the FIFO is by access cards, which will be obtained by EOL in advance. We will have only a few cards and will coordinate access to the building. Early support staff who will arrive in advance will receive their card at FIFO upon arrival.

In Kona the GV will most be stationed at a commercial FBO, Air Service Hawaii. The FBO will provide escort to the aircraft for access on the maintenance day and deliver rental cars to the aircraft upon arrival. Hotel charges (and this is a general rule for the entire project) will be paid by each individual, although EOL will make reservations for the entire crew.

In Christchurch the support is coordinated through the NSF Office of Polar Programs (OPP) facility. Access is through the secured Gate 3 using your ID. The list of names will be provided to the security in advance; if you have changes in staffing please provide this information to Pavel or Brigitte to have that list updated.

EOL established two primary locations for the GV support along the HIPPO Global flight track, Anchorage and Christchurch. Other locations along the track have limited support as described below.
