Please refer to the NSF Facility and Instrumentation Request Process (FIRP) solicitation for information on how the research community may request access to instrumentation and facilities supported through the NSF Facilities for Atmospheric Research and Education (FARE) Program.

NSF NCAR-managed Lower Atmosphere Observing Facilities (LAOF)

The NSF FARE Program supports state-of-the-art observing facilities and instrumentation to advance fundamental atmospheric research. NCAR-managed facilities are available on a competitive basis to qualified scientists from universities, NSF NCAR, and other U.S. government agencies.

Guidance on proposal preparation and the facility request process is provided in the FIRP solicitation, with facility allocations and deployments determined by NSF.

Researchers familiar with the NCAR-managed LAOF request process may proceed directly to the NSF FARE Planner Tool .
