2024 AVAPS Group Meeting

The National Center for Atmospheric Research - Earth Observing Laboratory will be hosting our 2024 AVAPS Users Group Meeting on 16-17 April, 2024.
This year, we are celebrating 50 years of the NCAR dropsonde program, which started with GATE in 1974. In addition to topics revolving around in situ observations using dropsondes and their use in forecasting and science, we would like to highlight the outstanding history of this program.
We have prepared presentations and discussions on science, operations, technology, and history along with open discussions, which may include future needs and capabilities such as new types of measurements and new platforms.
We want to take this opportunity to celebrate our longstanding community and welcome new members. We encourage everyone to share their memories, history, and achievements over the last 50 years.
This will be an in person meeting with the option for virtual participation. The meeting will be held at our Boulder location, please see the 'Logistics' page for more in person information.
