FARE Users’ Workshop

September 19 – 21, 2023

The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the University of Wyoming will co-host the 2023 Facilities for Atmospheric Research & Education (FARE) Users’ Workshop from 19 – 21 September 2023 in Boulder, CO.

The goal of the workshop is to create and facilitate opportunities for researchers, FARE providers, and NSF program officers to interact and discuss various aspects related to the portfolio of NSF-funded, multi-user national facilities that are available for use by the geosciences research community. The agenda is in development and will include:

  • Overview of available measurement capabilities and support services and how to access them 
  • Forecast for emerging technologies and desired measurement capabilities Advice for conducting field campaigns in a changinged landscape with an increased focus on safety and inclusion
  • Generation of novel ideas for student engagement and educational activities
  • Training on new policies for project and data management and archival

The workshop will include oral and poster presentations, breakout sessions, facility tours, training sessions, networking events, and a special session for early-career scientists, postdocs, and graduate students.

The workshop will be held in person at NCAR, with virtual components. Limited funding will be available to support registration and travel for students.
