Measurement Characteristics

Preliminary information:

  • Overall estimate of uncertainty: claimed 0.1K accuracy down to -100 C (unverified)
  • Response time: dependent on conditions; 1-30 s
  • Precision:
  • Other measurement characteristics (comments on signal/noise, bias limits, etc):

The uncertainty is complex and not yet well characterized because it depends on the time response of the sensor, which can be slow at low frost point. When stable, the uncertainty in frost-point measurement is likely <0.3 C because the frost-point is not subject to calibration except via the NIST-calibrated temperature sensor. The uncertainty characterization will be the subject of a future report, once the instrument is considered tested and operational.
