November 13, 1986 to November 17, 1986
Project Location:
Central U.S.
Project Description:

During the Sodium Lidar (NaLidar) project, airborne lidar measurements were taken over the central US of atmospheric density perturbations in the upper stratosphere and lower mesosphere and of the mesospheric sodium layer to test a new sodium lidar instrument. Successful completion of this project led to two major follow-up campaigns in the mid-Pacific based out of Maui, Hawaii: ALOHA-90 in 1990, and ALOHA-93 during 1993.
