The high-resolution Doppler on Wheels (DOW) observations of long-lake-axis-parallel (LLAP)–lake-effect storms during the winter of 2010–11 over Lake Ontario study used a DOW to sample seven lake-effect snowstorm events off the New York-side coast of Lake Ontario during a winter 2010/2011 field campaign. The data were later analyzed using the Solo-II software and led to discovery of interesting features, including miso- and meso-vortices, and an unexpectedly asymmetrical structure in the updraft region of the storm.
