STAR-CD

History

STAR-CD is flow modeling software from the Adapco company.  Each year we received new STAR-CD manuals and software CD's, starting with Cindy's first order (~1995?) and continuing until ~2008 when we dropped that product line because it wasn't getting much use.  In the middle of all that, we acquired FLUENT software ~2003.  FLUENT was used by me and a few other people at NCAR. We had it installed on CISL & then yellowstone, where it was accessible by NCAR and a few some grad students at UCAR-affiliated universities.  RAF paid the FLUENT license fees ~$7.5k per year, which is a huge academic discount. A couple of weeks ago, Mike Reeves asked me about renewing it. That seems unlikely, since RAF no longer has a flow modeling staff person, and recent budgets are somewhere between thin and uncertain.
