C-MIGITS INS/GPS System
An inertial reference unit that provides position, velocity, and attitude information. The unit is coupled to GPS measurements for updating via a Kalman filter to remove drift and/or misalignment. The compact unit is designed for installation in small spaces and is hardened against vibration, so it is often used on RAF aircraft in wing pods. It has been used in conjunction with the Laser Air Motion Sensor (LAMS), a wing-mounted gust system, and for installation in the radome of the C-130.
Calibration Methods
The measurements from this unit are normally compared to those from the Honeywell IRUs on the aircraft for validation of the measurements.
