NASA Ames Format

Description of the NASA Ames format and it's use at RAF

The NASA Ames format is the preferred ASCII format at RAF. We have scripts that will read NASA Ames and generate netCDF files using the header for information on variable names, etc. If you would like complete metadata in your netCDF files, please use this format.

Note that RAF code allows negative missing values, but the NASA Ames checker does not.

Please note:

  • Units in parentheses at the end of the variable description line.
