My research focuses on building new instruments and adapting new technologies to study the global carbon cycle, and includes field work in forests, at sea, and on aircraft.  The motivation for my work lies in our need to better understand how the Earth's biogeochemical systems, such as forests and ocean regions, respond to natural and human-induced perturbations - so that we may more accurately predict and more effectively mitigate future climate change.  At NCAR, I work jointly in the Earth Observing Laboratory's Research Aviation Facility and The Institute for Multidisciplinary Earth Studies' Biogeosciences Program.  Expanded descriptions of my research can be found in a recent NCAR People Spotlight and in the links below.
