In collaboration with NTT Photonics, we are investigating
the performance of newly designed waveguide(WG) PPLN
crystals for DFG. WG-PPLN offers a significantly better
conversion efficiency to convert near-IR to mid-IR, thus
potentially removing the need for high power fiber optic
amplifiers.
Testing of a mid-IR PPLN-WG is currently ongoing at
NCAR-APOL.
Our first results using mid-IR PPLN-WG crystals are
published in OpticsExpress:
