These photos were taken during a field campaign to the
active Masaya Volcano in Nicaragua in 2000. Two DFG based
sensors that were developed as part of my PhD research
Rice University were put to the test. This was a first
out of the laboratory test of this technology - and it
operated right out of the box at arrival. Since this
first DFG field experiment demonstration, we have
improved the technology by three orders in terms of
sensitivity, and now are airborne operative.
