This section outlines how the upgraded pieces will be integrated with the exsiting system, such as where the old hardware leaves off and new hardware begins, how new software components will be integrated with existing software, and particular details about visible changes to the users of the system, especially those which significantly affect the ELDORA operations plan.
The scientist station in the P3 will have two ELDORA beam-by-beam displays, typically for displaying the fore and aft radars, and both displays will be controlled by the operator from the operator's station. There will also be a display for the ELDORA CAPPI and WINDS.
The operator will see a different KVM setup. Two radar displays will be running, one of each of the new 1U rack servers, so controlling those will require switching the KVM to each of those displays individually.
It should be possible to control both displays from the operator console, either with some kind of remote control component or something like synergy. The same could be possible for the scientist station, if we were able to run a USB cable to it.
The perspective for data management will change little, except for the data arriving on the ground on disk instead of tape. The spare 1U hosts will be used in the ground system to mount and access the archive disks for post-flight processing. The post-flight processing probably will still include writing tapes, since there will not be enough disks on which to carry the data home. The exception might be when there are sufficient disk arrays on the ground on which the data can be preserved.
