The motosat went down around the 16Z sounding on 8-13.  We have a roving crew
in LMM that will hopefully get us back on line by this evening.  In any case,
soundings are being taken and the data are being stored.  We have instructed
roving crew/night shift to send data to GTS as soon as motosat is restored.

The satellite phone is still out of order.  The motosat went completely down
around the 16Z launch, so we are without internet access until the roving
crew can look into the problem.  They are here in LMM, so hopefully will
be back on line by this evening.  We instructed the next team to send the
sounding data for the 16Z and 20Z soundings as soon as we get motosat 
functioning.

We encountered two sondes which seem to be defective and were not used:

408400801: Bad RH data (read 100%)

408400808: Did not lock on to GPS signal.

and dried by 20Z.

We originally attempted to launch sonde with coefficient 408400808.  However, 
while on the aspirator, the GPS was not able to lock onto the sonde with zero 
satellites.  We prepared a new sonde with coefficient documented above and 
had a successful launch.  Signal appeared to be very weak as sonde approached 
100 mb.

We originally attempted to launch sonde with coefficients 408400801, but while 
on the aspirator we noticed that the humidity sensor was bad.  It read 100%, 
while the actual atmospheric conditions were at 72.4%.  We replaced the bad 
sonde with a new one with above documented coefficients.  No problems 
afterwards - successful launch, although after release the sonde moved straight 
overhead the RASS/profiler while resonating!  Signal appeared to be very weak 
as sonde approached 100 mb.

No problems.  Lights were not working upon our arrival this morning.  We checked the outlets and the power and were receiving power.  Unsure what the problem is.  We used the flourescent lights.  The outside outlet problem the previous shift had was solved by resetting the outlet.  Power works fine now.

The campbell window had been closed we couldn't get numerical surface data.  The system was rebooted and everything is working fine now.

Weather on this shift was rather tranquil.  Light winds this morning with stars and occassional lightning flashes to the North.  Convection cleared then redeveloped to the southeast as winds gradually increased. Currently we are under mostly sunny skies with a few fair weather cumulus draping over the airport.

A couple of the soundings lost wind data prior to 100mb, otherwise no problems.

There was some deep convection and thunderstorms to the east of the site 
during this evening.  Some of them made it to LMM and produced light rain
during the 8z sounding.
