NCAR / EOL is deploying an Integrated Sounding System ISS to the Meteor Crater, Arizona, for the METCRAX Experiment being organized by Drs. Andreas Muschinski (Uni. Massachusetts), C. David Whiteman (Uni.Utah), Sharon Zhong (Michigan State Uni.), and Dave Fritts (Northwest Research Assoc.). The project will run through October of 2006. The ISS will consist of a UHF boundary layer wind profiler with RASS, radiosonde sounding system, and surface meteorology tower about 3 miles north of the crater and a sodar-RASS about one mile southwest of the crater. The PIs and other groups will have a variety of other instruments in and around the crater. (Please see the METCRAX Home Page for more details).
