RESEARCH DATA PROGRAM (RDP) 

Data Management - RDP stimulates, coordinates and participates in data management activities for the Division.  We coordinate and participate in the development of data management tools, manage the ATD data archives and fulfill data orders for all ATD platforms.  The RDP will assist in the ATD implementation of UCAR metadata conventions and data services.  The Research Data Archive provides information on data collected and sample data displays from major ATD programs.   Also, here is a link to the MSS retrieval web page for requesting ATD data from calendar year 2000 and beyond (some older data exist there as well). Here is our data plan document created in 2002 (currently under revision).

Software Engineering - RDP coordinates and leads software engineering efforts within the Division that are targeted towards emerging UCAR-wide IT initiatives and middle-tier software.  The goal of these efforts is to insure that ATD datastreams are connected to and compatible with efforts that integrate, assimilate and intercompare data from other platforms, models and other scientific disciplines.  Please see the ATD software page for more information about the various software packages used in ATD. 

System Administration - RDP houses the core system administrators in the Division.  We are responsible for maintaining the basic inhouse computing infrastructure including servers and data storage, central networked services and desktop support.  Additionally, RDP provides system administration functions to field projects which include data communications (WAN & LAN), systems support and design.  See the RDP Systems Page for more information.
