May 29 (Archer City tornadic supercell)
Synopsis:
MCS outflow boundary, dryline, and sub-synoptic low in NW TX. A tornadic,
HP
supercell formed near Archer City, and moved to near Ranger, TX by
sunset. The storm seemed
to be very unusual in structure and appearance. The most significant
tornado occurred to the
west of the hook echo associated with the primary mesocyclone. Another
tornado occurred in
the southeast part of the storm after it became HP.
Intercept:
A comprehensive data set was obtained, except that mobile teams were
collecting
data on one mesocyclone, while a significant tornado occurred in a
different part of the storm.
