May 26 (Lubbock non-tornadic supercells)
Synopsis:
Upslope initiated storms in weak CAPE and moderate shear in west Texas.
Intercept:
The first storm was intercepted near Cotton Center, and appeared to be
the left-hand
member of a splitting pair. The storm developed a moderate low-level
mesocyclone but no
tornado. This storm was throughly documented with mobile mesonet obs and
three P-3 volume
scans. The second storm intercept was on a stationary supercell near
Reese Air Force Base at
Lubbock. This was an exceptionally steady storm, and very thoroughly
documented.
