June 10 (non-tornadic supercell near Vega, TX)
Synopsis:
Very weak upslope flow, moderate CAPE, and marginal shear in west Texas.
Storms formed in eastern NM but did not become supercells. In the evening,
isolated TCU formed W of AMA. These developed into a supercell near Vega.
Intercept:
The armada went to Dalhart TX. We cancelled operations and began heading
home. As we did so, the TCU improved greatly in structure, and the operations
resumed. Data were collected for several hours from the time the storm was a
weak thundershower until it became a supercell, and then until sunset.
