Title RADARSAT SAR Imagery and Derived Products for SHEBA
Version Version 1.0, October 10, 1999
Datadesc
The reason we have RADARSAT coverage of SHEBA at all is thanks to the NASA-funded RADARSAT
Geophysical Processor System (RGPS). To support RGPS, ASF is acquiring an "Arctic Snapshot" every three to
six days - complete RADARSAT coverage of the western Arctic Ocean. Since the SHEBA site was within the
Arctic Snapshot region, SHEBA benefited from the frequent coverage without having to do any of the
acquisition planning or scheduling.

The SHEBA Project Office has acquired the entire set of
(200) RADARSAT images of the SHEBA region in calibrated,
geocoded format. We hope to distribute these images
in GIF format through a password-protected web site or
ftp site.

Quantitative estimates of the MOTION and DEFORMATION of
Sea ice have been derived from pairs of RADARSAT images
over the SHEBA region. These data sets are available from
the RGPS web site http://www-radar.jpl.nasa.gov/rgps/sheba_product.html
(MOTION) and from Harry Stern's RADARSAT Deformation web
site http://psc.apl.washington.edu/Harry/Radarsat/DEFMaccess.html
(DEFORMATION). The datasets can be downloaded as plots,
animations and digital files.
