FLOSSII ISFF Netcdf Files
The FLOSSII 5-minute Netcdf files contain means and higher moments from
all sensors acquired by NCAR during FLOSSII.
Each file contains one day's data from 00:00 to 23:59 GMT.
The file names are of the form "flossii.YYMMDD.nc", where YYMMDD
are the 2 digit year, month and day.
We recommend combining these to obtain more statistically-significant
averages over longer time periods.
Status of Dataset
- Quality-controlled Data Set, V2 (8 July 2008)
- As below, except for the addition of averages of the Snow Depth gauge data.
- Quality-controlled Data Set, V1
- These data contain 5-minute averages of first-order moments (means) of
all variables and second-order moments (including cross-moments) and third- and
fourth-order moments (only single-variables) of turbulence variables for the
FLOSSII field experiment.
These data have all of the processing stated in the FLOSSII
WWW page. The highlights are:
- Inclusion of data taken at the sage and lake sites in October and November.
- Addition of derived sensible and latent heat fluxes with all known
corrections.
- Addition of derived long-wave radiation with all known corrections.
- Addition of derived soil properties and heat flux at the surface corrected
for heat storage.
- Temperature compensation of the main tower pressure sensor.
- Removal of biases in mean temperature and humidity sensors.
- Correction of data channel swaps for 25m radiometers.
- Removal of sonic anemometer data when internal quality-control flags were
set (presumably due to snow/icing).
- Removal of krypton hygrometer data in suspected fog/icing conditions and
during routine maintenance.
- Removal of all radiometer data in suspected snow/icing conditions and during
routine maintenance.
- Removal of soil moisture data when ground was frozen.
More information on the Netcdf file format is available from
Unidata.
ISFF FLOSSII5min Dataset Access
The FLOSSII ISFF dataset is publically available.
However, we ask users to provide their name and email address
when they first download data, so that they may be notified of
discovered errors or new releases of the dataset.
If you have provided this information before for this dataset,
leave the fields blank.
