Local Directions
Boulder is quite compact, and a very easy place to get around. The city strives to be pedestrian friendly, so walking anywhere is never very difficult. It also has an efficient bus system, with a number of frequent circulator buses (e.g., the Hop and Skip) plus other buses to provide fairly good access to all venues.
Participants might consider renting bicycles for the week. Boulder has an extensive network of bike trails and on-street paths and is very bike friendly. Information on biking in Boulder is available at:

Reception in the University
Memorial Center
(UMC). The University Memorial Center is located on the NE corner of Broadway and Euclid Ave.
From the Outlook and Best Western:
On foot: (20 minutes – see Map 1 below): Walk north along the 28th Street Frontage Rd to the pedestrian underpass. Go under 28th Street. Walk west, past the Coors Event Center Arena until you get to Regent Drive. Continue walking roughly west past the Leeds Business School and continue across campus to Wardenburg Drive, eventually coming to 18th St. Follow 18th Street N to Euclid Ave., then W to the UMC. The UMC is on the NE corner of Broadway and Euclid. The reception is in the Glenn Miller Ballroom. An alternate (but longer) route is to go north along the Frontage Road to the second pedestrian underpass. (Note – this underpass may be under construction). Then walk through the underpass west to Regent Drive, north to Colorado Ave., then west on Colorado Ave. past the stadium and around the corner to Euclid Avenue. Then go west to the UMC on the corner of Euclid and Broadway.
By Bus: Walk south to Baseline Rd. The RTD bus stops are located on the north side of Baseline at Baseline and 30th or at Broadway. On Sunday the bus arrives at 3:51 PM, then every 30 minutes - fare is $1.75 (exact change required). Take the 203 bus westbound to Broadway and Euclid (about 5 minutes). The reception is in the Glenn Miller Ballroom.
From the Broker:
On Foot: (25 minutes – see Map 1 below). Walk north on 30th to Baseline, then west to Broadway. Follow Broadway NW to Euclid. The UMC is on the NE corner of Broadway and Euclid (Map 3). The reception is in the Glenn Miller Ballroom.
By Bus: Walk north to Baseline Rd. The RTD bus stop is located on the north side of Baseline. On Sunday the bus arrives at 3:51 PM, then every 30 minutes - fare is $1.75 (exact change required). Take the 203 bus westbound to Broadway and Euclid (about 5 minutes). The reception is in the Glenn Miller Ballroom.
From the Millenium Hotel:

Walk west along the path (be aware of bikes – it’s a multi use path) to Folsom St. Walk south on Folsom, up the hill, then cut around the Stadium to Colorado Ave. Follow Colorado Ave. west, then continue on a walkway west, past the construction site. After the Chemistry building go south, across a courtyard with Fountain, to the UMC. The reception is in the Glenn Miller Ballroom, on the south side of the building (if you enter from the north, you will need to go up the steps to get to the ballroom.)

By Bus: Bus is a great way to get to the conference from the St. Julien. Catch the Hop Purple Line (counterclockwise) on the NW corner of Walnut Street and 9th Street. The Hop runs every 15 minutes on Sunday (fare is $1.75 – exact change required). Take the Hop Purple Line to Broadway and Euclid. The UMC is on the NE corner of Broadway and Euclid. The reception is in the Glenn Miller Ballroom. To return take the Hop Orange Line from the UMC. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HOP STOPS SERVICE AT APPROXIMATELY 6 PM ON SUNDAY. However, the walk back is all downhill! Alternately, you can take the Skip (every 15 minutes) from Broadway and Euclid to Broadway and Walnut, then walk west on Walnut to the St. Julien.
To Muenzinger Auditorium
From the Outlook and Best Western:

An alternate route (simpler but slightly longer) is to go north along the Frontage Road to the second pedestrian underpass. (Note – this underpass may be under construction). Then walk through the underpass west to Regent Drive, north to Colorado Ave., then west on Colorado Ave. to the stadium.

On foot (25-30 minutes): Walk east to Broadway, then follow Broadway south up the hill to the campus. At the corner of Broadway and University, cut diagonally to the Southeast across the pond. Continue southeast until you reach a large grassy quad with Norlin Library to the east (see Map 3). Work your way around Norlin Library to the south to Colorado Ave. Follow Colorado Ave. to the Stadium. Muenzinger Auditorim is off the open area just west of the Stadium.
By Bus: Bus is a great way to get to the conference from the St. Julien. Catch the Hop Purple Line (counterclockwise) on the NW corner of Walnut Street and 9th Street. The Hop runs every seven to ten minutes during the day (fare is $1.75 – exact change required). Take the bus to Folsom Stadium. Muenzinger Auditorim is off the open area just west of the Stadium. To/from Pearl Street Mall and downtown Boulder:
Pearl Street between 9th St and 20th St. is the gathering place for Boulderites and visitors alike, with a wide variety of restaurants, shops, and street entertainment. Traveling to and from Pearl Street and downtown Boulder is very easy by bus from all the conference hotels. It is also easily reached on foot or bicycle, especially on a pleasant summer evening.

By Bus
From the Outlook, Best Western, and Broker:
Take the 203 bus as described in the directions to the UMC, but continue past the University Campus to the downtown RTD Station at 14th and Walnut Street. On weeknights, the buses leave the station at 6:22, 6:52, and 7:22, then every hour until 11:22 (weeknights). Last bus leaves the station at 11:22 on weeknights and 9:22 on Sunday.
From the Millenium
Take the Hop Orange line (clockwise) from the stop at Boulder Creek and Folsom. On weeknights, busses run every 15 minutes until 10 PM, then every half hour until midnight.
From the Marriott and
Golden Buff
Take the Hop Purple Line (counterclockwise) from the stop at 26th and Canyon. On weeknights, busses run every 15 minutes until 10 PM, then every half hour until midnight.
From the St Julien

To Chautauqua Park (free bus service):
Chautauqua Park, at the base of the Flatirons, is a great place to hike around in the evening. You can also dine outdoors on the porch of the historic dining room. A new free circulator bus service runs from downtown Boulder to Chautauqua, then to 27th Way and Baseline (near the Outlook, Best Western, and Marriott). Information is available at :
