My research focuses
on building new instruments and adapting new technologies
to study the global carbon cycle, and includes field work in
forests, at sea, and on aircraft. The motivation for my work
lies in our need to better understand how the Earth's biogeochemical
systems, such as forests and ocean regions, respond to natural
and human-induced perturbations - so that we may more accurately
predict and more effectively mitigate future climate change.
At NCAR, I work jointly in the
Earth Observing Laboratory's Research Aviation Facility and The
Institute for Multidisciplinary Earth Studies' Biogeosciences
Program. Expanded descriptions of my research can be found
in a recent NCAR
