HIPPO II Flight #1 :: Colorado to Anchorage, AK

The G-V took off at 10:00 am, from EOL's Research Aviation Facility (RAF) at the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (RMMA) in Broomfied, Colorado and flying to Anchorage, Alaska. The estimated flight duration was 6.5 hours.
On the way, they perform at least two vertical profiles to collect atmospheric data and air samples, one near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and the other near Watson Lake, Yukon Territory, Canada. You can view this flight's log of dip altitudes and position on FlightAware. We call these maneuvers "missed approaches" and the aircraft will descend and touch down at a previously selected airfield, taxi on the runway, and immediately depart again without stopping. These missed appraocehd are important so the scientists can collect samples at low speeds.
