My Summer at NCAR

To start off I would like to thank Craig Thompson an engineering professor at Western Wyoming Community College for selecting me to be given a chance for this job. Taking this job was a huge step for me in life. Before I came here I had never been to Colorado, and I didn’t realize the beauty of this state until I got here. I fell in love with the town of Boulder the moment I got here. There are so many things to do and the people are as friendly as can be. To add to my experience of Colorado I actually took on a new sport this summer with the help of Tim Lim; mountain biking is now one of my favorite hobbies.

My experience with NCAR was much better than I ever expected it to be. When I first started I was told that everyone was pretty casual, but I had no idea that they were as laid back as they are. I didn’t think you could cram that many friendly people into such a confined little area. I mostly worked with Ned Chamberlain, Terry Hock, and Tim Lim, but with many other also. I would just like to thank everyone that I worked with at NCAR for helping me with everything I did, and taking the time to show me how things work. I would only change two things about this summer if I could. I wish I could have gone on a field project to see how the equipment I have been working on really worked in action. I also compared NCAR’s pay scale to interns of other companies and it is sort of on the lower end, and with the cost of things in Boulder I think there would be more incentive to work here if it were raised slightly. Thank you NCAR.

Sincerely,
