A global, 2-hourly data set (1997-2008) of atmospheric precipitable water has been retrieved from ground-based GPS measurements of zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) using the International GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) Service (IGS) tropospheric products (~80-300 stations, 1997-2008), U.S. SuomiNet (UCAR/COSMIC) product (~300 stations, 2002-2008) and Japanese GEONET (GPS Earth Observation Network) data (~1100 stations, 1997-2005).
