A quiet tornado season was interrupted by a spurt of twister activity over the weekend just east of the Rocky Mountains. This tornado in the Denver suburb of Aurora, Colo., damaged a shopping mall.

If you've seen anything of the Weather Channel over the past few weeks you know about the Vortex 2 study, which has dozens of tornado-chasing meteorologists fanned out across the Plains looking to perform research on twisters (or maybe they just want to get some great video).
