Turbulent transport within plant canopies is still not well understood and is, hence, poorly represented in large-scale climate models. Canopy turbulence is a complex but important aspect of biogeoscience, as it plays an essential role in transporting substances between their source location and the overlying atmosphere. EOL supported this NCAR-led experiment by deploying an ISFS and the REAL lidar in a walnut grove in Dixon, California in March and April 2007. The PI for this project is Ned Patton from NCAR.
