RAF Policies and Procedures
Rules that allow RAF to conduct operations and instrument integration safely and efficiently
Preparing airplanes and staff for field operations is a complicated process. Below you will find links to documents that outline procedures that RAF will follow when preparing for field deployments:
- Building access and visitor policies. Researchers planning to work at RAF for projects or other activities should ask their RAF contact to apply for visitor access cards in advance of arriving at RAF.
- Approved wires and materials for inclusion into instruments to be flown on the G-V
- RAF crew duty policy
- Staffing of G-V (HIAPER) flight crew for various types of missions
- Small vs. Large project support
- New instrumentation: approval procedures for flight on NSF aircraft
- Project tree for building an instrument to fly on the G-V
- New instrumentaiton and determining of feasibility of projects relying on it
- Project lifecycle: timing of events for a typical field project upload
